So by now we know all of the favorites to win the Super Bowl. At the top of the list are the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers. And that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Then just below these top favorites, are other teams with high expectations. Teams like San Francisco, Houston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Denver.
But what about the teams in the second half of the odds. The teams who are not favored, and considered underdogs.
Here is a look at three teams with odds greater than 20/1 on Bovada Sportsbook who we think have the best chance to win the 2013 Super Bowl.
The Giants come into this season as the defending Super Bowl champions. Going by history, we know how difficult it can be to win back-to-back titles. But the Giants are equipped to do just that. With eli Manning at quarterback, New York certainly has a good chance. Combine that with an aggressive defense that gets after it, and New York just needs to find a way to scrape their way into the postseason. From there, as they shown in the past, it’s anyone’s game. At 22/1, a wager on the Giants to win the Super Bowl isn’t a bad idea.
The Atlanta Falcons have had great success in the regular season the last two seasons. Actually, three of the last four season Atlanta has made it into the playoffs. but the Falcons have had next to no success in the postseason. Atlanta scored just two points against the Giants last season in a wildcard round loss. But Matt Ryan had his best statistical season in 2011. And with Julio Jones and roddy White on the outside, combined with Michael Turner at running back, the Falcons look like a good wager to make profiting 25/1.
Ok, this is certainly the stretch pick of the three teams. But here me out first. Cam Newton will win a Super Bowl for Carolina, assuming he stays there. Newton is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league already, only entering his second season. Once the pieces are put in place around him to have success, Carolina will be a big time contender. Contending for a playoff berth and a Super Bowl starts this year. Newton has made the Panthers exciting to watch, and a threat in the NFC. At 40/1, why not throw down a bet on Carolina?
