Two of the top favorites in the NFL preseason will matchup on Sunday night Football in prime time in Week 6. The Green Bay Packers will travel to Reliant Stadium to take on the Houston Texans.
So far though, it’s only been the Texans who have held up their end of the bargain, starting out 5-0 on the season.
Green Bay is a very surprising 2-3.
There is no denying the talent on the offensive side of the ball for the Packers though, and it starts with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has held himself accountable this week for the poor start, saying that he needs to make better decisions with the football.
And when looking at the stats, he’s right. Green Bay ranks a pedestrian 15th in the NFL in passing yards per game, which is something that we do not expect to see from the 2011 NFL MVP.
There is a big opportunity for the Packers on Sunday night though to knock off one of the last two remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL.
It’s a tall task though, with Houston playing so well on both sides of the ball, especially on defense. The Texans rank 4th against the pass, and 9th against the run, and have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Rodgers and the offense will have to play their best game.
While that will be the matchup that people will be the most excited for, it’s probably the other matchup which will decide the outcome. That would be the Green Bay defense against the Houston offense.
The Packers will have to contain Arian Foster, and prevent Matt Schaub from throwing it over top with the play action if they hope to have a chance. Foster is already out to a great start this season, and is a huge threat both running and catching the ball out of the back field.
Green Bay ranks 17th in the NFL against both the pass and run, and has been susceptible to giving up the big play this season.
This will probably be the most looked forward too game of the weekend, kicking off at 8:30 pm ET on on NBC.
