The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys first met to open up to 2012 NFL Season back in the beginning of September. That game was won by Dallas, in what was a very impressive outing for quarterback Tony Romo.
Since then though, things have gone downhill for the most part for Romo. The opposite can be said for Eli Manning and the Giants.
The two will square off again on Sunday in Week 8 of the NFL Season, with big implications in the NFC East race. The Giants at 5-2 currently lead the division, with the cowboys sitting at 3-3. New York has the opportunity to get a big win in the division and separate themselves from the Cowboys. And for Dallas, it’s a chance to climb their way back within striking distance.
The Cowboys do get this one at home, but they have split their two games in Jerry Jones’ palace so far this season.
Romo still has more interceptions than touchdowns this season, with 8 TDs and 9 INTs. Of course, when you throw 5 interceptions in one game, that will not help that ratio.
But against the Giants, Romo had by far his best outing of the season, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. In fact, Romo has quite a solid record of performances against New York.
Since the loss to Dallas to start the season, the giants have won five of six games, including some big ones like a road trip out to San Francisco in an NFC championship game rematch with the 49ers. New York dominated San Francisco, who is still one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
New York definitely has a difficult second half of the season coming up, and a win on the road against the Cowboys will help the cause.
