Chicago Bears vs Jacksonville Jaguars NFL Week 5 Preview

The Chicago Bears took the Dallas Cowboys out to the woodshed on Monday night and whipped up the Cowboys pretty handily. Jay Cutler looked much better in the primetime than he did against Green Bay earlier in the season, and the defense looked like a top-tier defense in the NFL. Week five isn’t a bye week for the Bears, although it may seem that way heading to Jacksonville. The Jaguars fell to 1-3 after a 27-10 loss to the Bengals last week. This is obviously a rebuilding project in Jacksonville. The same cannot be said for the Bears, as the Windy City faithful are thinking Super Bowl or bust in 2012. Continue reading

NFL Game Of The Week: Atlanta Falcons vs Washington Redskins

For a fleeting moment, it looked like the Atlanta Falcons string of three-straight wins to kick off the 2012 season would be finished. Atlanta was backed inside their own one-yard line with less than a minute to go down by two points. But the Falcons offense had some magic left in the tank, and Matt Ryan and Roddy White connected on a 55-yard bomb which set things in motion. The result was a Matt Bryant game-winner and Atlanta remains unbeaten as they go into Week 5 of the NFL Season to take on Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins in our Week 5 Game of The Week.

The Redskins comes off of a win on the road at Tampa Bay, doing the Falcons a favor by knocking off one of their division rivals. Washington won in similar fashion, needing a field-goal on the final drive, though they had no timeouts. But Griffin took the Redskin offense down the field, and set them up in position to win the game, which they did. Continue reading

Man Wins $725K On 15-Team Parlay Thanks To Seahawks MNF Win Over Packers

If you are a sports bettor, you dream about a day like the one that Gino DiFelice of Canada had a couple of weeks ago. Though it almost didn’t come to pass. And once you hear this tale, you can only imagine the range of emotions that DiFelice went through.

In the source story as seen on ESPN.com, a 15-team parlay came down to the result of the infamous Green Bay/Seattle game from Monday Night Football in Week 3.

DiFelice won $725,274 off of a $5 15-team parlay, courtesy of the call made by the refs to give Seattle the controversial victory. Had the call been flipped giving the Packers the win, DiFelice would have won $0.

And here’s the best part Continue reading

Cardinals Eyeing 5-0 Start Thursday Night Going Into St. Louis

The Arizona Cardinals are 4-0. Wait, did I just say that? Yes, the Arizona Cardinals, fresh off quarterback controversies and the whole nine yards, are 4-0. In fact, in a division that was the San Francisco 49ers to run away with, all four teams are currently .500 or better, including Thursday’s opponent for Arizona, the St. Louis Rams. The Rams are finding their identity under first-year head coach Jeff Fisher. Fisher is known for the grind it out, smash mouth style of football that he coined during his long tenure in Tennessee. The Rams are figuring that out, as they currently sit 2-2 after a 19-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks. When the schedule makers had this game in the Thursday night slot, it was probably because they needed to get these two teams in a primetime game, and the earlier the better, as neither were expected to do much in 2012. However this game actually has major divisional implications. Continue reading

Three Things We’ve Learned In The NFL Through Week 4

We are through one quarter of the 2012 NFL season, and there are definitely some thing that we have learned and are paying attention to through the next 12 games of the schedule. There is still a long way to go, but you can’t underestimate the importance of a good start. Just as Houston, Arizona and Atlanta. Or for that matter ask New Orleans.

So with that in mind, here are three things that I’ve learned since the start of the 2012 NFL Regular season going into Week 5. Continue reading

NFL Power Five For Week 5

We are through four weeks of the 2012 NFL season, and just three teams remain undefeated. They would be the Houston Texans, the Atlanta Falcons, and to the surprise of many, the Arizona Cardinals. And while the Cardinals are indeed a surprise, there are some on the opposite end of the spectrum that are a surprise too.

Most notably the New Orleans Saints, who sit at 0-4. You can bet that we will not be seeing them in this week’s edition of the top-five power rankings in the NFL.

So 25 percent of the season is done, let’s see who we have at the top of the league this far into the year. Continue reading

Bears And Cowboys Meet In Week 4 Of Monday Night Football

Neither Jay Cutler nor Tony Romo have had particular great starts to the 2012 NFL season. But at the same time, both the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys sit at 2-1 on the season going into their Week 4 Monday Night Football showing.

So what can we expect to see in this one?

Well, it could very well come down to the team which makes the fewest mistakes on the offensive side of the ball. Continue reading

Falcons And Texans Creme Of The Crop In The NFL

The Atlanta Falcons and the Houston Texans are two of the three remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL through four weeks of the season. Well, we still have the Monday Night game, but neither the Bears nor the Cowboys are without a loss. The third member of this unbeaten club are the Arizona Cardinals, and while they have looked good, it seems to be the Falcons and the Texans who are seen as the more legitimate contenders.

Let’s start with Atlanta, who won at home today over the Carolina Panthers 30-28, courtesy of a last-second field goal by Matt Bryant. Continue reading

Houston Texans Take On Tennessee Titans In Week 4

The Houston Texans look to be the real deal, especially with Matt Schaub back at quarterback, and the defense smothering opposing offenses. Following another big win last week, this time over former nemesis Peyton Manning, the Texans are in control of the AFC South after three weeks. The Texans will welcome the Tennessee Titans to town on Sunday, a team that picked up its first win of the year with a wild 44-41 win over the Lions in Nashville. Tennessee snuck out of Houston last year with a win in the final week of the season, playing against the back-ups at Reliant Stadium, as the Texans had already clinched a playoff berth. Cleveland Browns Take On Baltimore Ravens In Week 4 Thursday Night Football

The Cleveland Browns have lost nine consecutive games against the Baltimore Ravens heading into Thursday night’s showdown in Baltimore. With the losing streak aside, the Browns simply want to break into the win column in 2012, as 0-3 Cleveland looks to avoid becoming the first 0-4 team of 2012. Coming off the Ravens big win over the Patriots in week three, the Ravens will be favored by nearly two touchdowns at home. Continue reading
