RGIII Has Big Debut In Week 1 Against New Orleans Saints

Robert Griffin III did what no team throughout the entire 2011 season could do to the New Orleans Saints.

Go into the SuperDome, and come out with a win.

And he did it in his first-ever NFL regular season game.

The No.2 overall pick back in April’s draft demonstrated why the team sacrificed a heap of picks to move up in the draft and grab him. Griffin threw for 320 yards by completing 19 of 26 passesand two touchdowns to no interceptions. Continue reading

Jets Prove You Can’t Read Too Much Into Preseason

No offense? That is so preseason.

The New York Jets put all questions to rest, at least for now, on the state of their alleged inept offense that was showcased during the preseason.

All that Mark Sanchez and the Jets did was hang 48 points on Buffalo in a Week 1 win to kick off the 2012 regular season. Continue reading

Deeper Playoff Run Awaits Broncos In 2012 As Peyton Manning Era Begins Sunday

A loss to the New York Jets back on January 8, 2011 was the last time Peyton Manning stepped on the football field in a meaningful game. It was also the last time he would lead the team he had spent 13 years with into battle.

A new era is set to begin for Manning as he makes his regular season debut with his new team, the Denver Broncos on Sunday as they host the Pittsburgh Steelers. Continue reading

NFL Week 1 Game Of The Week: Green Bay Packers vs SF 49ers

There are several notable matchups to pay attention to in Week 1 of the NFL Season. But we have picked our Game of the Week, which will take place in Lambeau Field in the late afternoon wave of games. The top-two NFC favorites will face off against each other, when the Green Bay Packers host the San Francisco 49ers.

You can bet that there will be plenty of eyes glued to the television for this.

These two teams combined for 28 regular season victories in the 2011 NFL Season. But those victories didn’t turn into anything in the playoffs. Continue reading

NFL Season Opens With Dallas Cowboys’ Win Over New York Giants

The 2012 NFL Season got underway on Wednesday night, with Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys going on the road to the New York Giants and getting a 24-17 victory.

Romo was the star of the game, throwing for three touchdowns, despite getting off to a shaky start in which he almost had an interception returned for a touchdown. But that was really the last of his struggles, as he and the Cowboys offense made big plays in the second half to secure the victory. Continue reading

It’s Finally Here… The 2012 NFL Regular Season Kickoff!!!

For the first time in more than six decades, the NFL season kicks off on a Wednesday. It couldn’t come any sooner for fans of the NFL, who’ve been chomping at the bit to see how their favorite pro football squads will compete. Last season gave us a litany of teams whose Super Bowl hopes were dashed by early injuries, most obviously the Houston Texans. The reigning Super Bowl Champion New York Giants turned in a regular season record of just 9 – 7 before bringing home the trophy. It was a wild year, and fans are as eager as ever for that first kickoff of the 2012 NFL regular season. Continue reading

Three Keys To New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys NFL Season Opener

We are just one day away from the start of the 2012 NFL regular season, with the Dallas Cowboys taking on the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. The Giants won their second Super Bowl in five seasons, as Eli Manning set himself apart even from older brother Peyton with one more ring.

But now it’s about this next season, and this opener with the Cowboys. It’s definitely clear that Dallas has more pressure entering this season than does New York. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is wearing thin on fans should they fail to make the playoffs once again, given the surrounding cast and quality players on the field.

So how about the keys for this NFL opener. Continue reading

How They’ll Finish: NFC South

Coming into the 2012 NFL season, the NFC South division looks to be quite compelling and competitive. For one, no team endured more hardships than the New Orleans Saints. The Saints will have to overcome a heap of distractions and execute on the field without their head coach. Probably considered the favorite before this all happened, how will the Saints finish in the NFC South, with teams like Atlanta and even Carolina poised to make a run.

How They’ll Finish… Continue reading

Russell Wilson Makes A Strong Case To Lead Seattle In 2012

When the NFL preseason began, the Seattle Seahawks had a quarterbackin Matt Flynn who appeared to be the one leading the way this season. But have things changed?

In their first three preseason games, Flynn got the start in the firsttwo and really did not do anything to relinquish his starting role based on his subpar performances. He completed 17 of 26 pass attempts with just one pick but had no touchdowns. But the fact remains that there just was not a spark ignited in the stagnant offense. Continue reading

An Argument For The Carolina Panthers

The more I watch Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers play, the more I believe they can contend for the playoffs.

Not down the line. This year.

Sure, Newton has one season under his belt, and hasn’t even gotten into his second NFL regular season. But looking at his development, and what he brings to the table, he might be the most valuable player on any team right now. Or at least, right up there in the conversation. Continue reading
