What’s Wrong With The San Francisco 49ers?

49ers vs. ColtsIt’s not quite time to panic if you are a San Francisco 49ers fan, but there are certainly some reasons where you would be concerned, feeling that the game on Thursday night all of a sudden is a huge matchup on the schedule.

The 49ers bring their 1-2 record on the road during a short week to take on a division opponent in the St. Louis Rams.

First, at this point in the season to predict San Francisco would be 1-2 would have been a stretch. But even if they were to be 1-2, you wouldn’t think that they would have this record by being out-scored 56-10 over the course of their last two games. Continue reading

Seattle SeahawksWe’re through two weeks of the NFL season, and already we can see some separation between some of the contenders and early pretenders this season. 2013 NFL Season Week 1: Who’s Hot And Who’s Not

Colin KaepernickThroughout the course of the 2013 NFL season we are going to take a look at the week that was and draw a few conclusions on which team or player is ‘hot’ and which ones are ‘not’. Week 1 of the 2013 NFL Season is complete with the exception of two Monday Night Football games that are kicking off tonight.

But we got a full slate of Sunday football in the NFL, and there were some great performances, and some not-so-great performances by teams. Continue reading

The Start of The 2013 NFL Regular Season Is Upon Us; Broncos Host Ravens Tonight

Broncos vs. RavensThe start of the 2013 NFL season is finally here! And to kick things off we get a rematch of that epic 2013 Divisional round playoff double-overtime game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos.

The Ravens of course won that game, and then went on to win the Super Bowl. But the Super Bowl champions will be opening up on the road because of a game conflict with the Orioles tonight.

Denver certainly hasn’t forgotten about the loss to the Ravens in the playoffs last season. And if they have, the media has been there to remind them about it and build this game up as means of redemption.

This is the second year for Peyton Manning in Denver, and by all accounts he feels better than he did last season. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas said that the biggest difference he has noticed in the quarterback is in terms of arm strength.

Thomas said that he didn’t know the difference because he had only thrown with Manning after his next surgery and year off that he took. But now that he has seen Manning’s arm strength increase, he said that there is a huge difference in terms of the zip and velocity on the balls coming his way.

As for the Ravens, it’s definitely a new-look team from last season. Though receiver Jacoby Jones who caught the game-tying touchdown to send the game into overtime in the playoffs is still here. As is quarterback Joe Flacco. The Super Bowl winning quarterback got a big contract in the offseason and gets ready to defend a Super Bowl title.

The Ravens and Broncos are the only game to kick off on Thursday night in Week 1, with Sunday hosting most of the games.

On Monday night there will be a pair of games as has been the tradition. Among them includes the Redskins taking on the Eagles, with Robert Griffin III making his debut after sitting out the entire preseason.

Finally after all the waiting, there are no more wake ups until the start of football season. Last week we all got to enjoy college football, now it’s the NFL’s turn.

The 2013 NFL Preseason Is Over, Let’s Get Ready For The Regular Season!

Broncos vs. 49ersThe exhibitions are over, and it’s about time to get some real football that counts going in the NFL!

Don’t take that the wrong way though, because the NFL preseason is important and does serve a purpose. It’s not just about practicing schemes and implementing systems for the regular season. It gives players an opportunity to make a career and try to make a roster. It’s the guys that we don’t hear about who need the preseason to try and secure a future, however brief it might be in this league. Continue reading

NFL Quarterback Competitions Becoming More Clear As Teams Make Decisions

Michael VickWe are just a couple of weeks away from the start of the 2013 NFL season, and those teams with quarterback competitions are beginning to take shape and cement starters for Week 1. This is an important week in the preseason, with the third game on the schedule typically when the starters play the most, and then get some rest during Week 4 in preparation for the opening week of the regular season.

Teams with a quarterback competition are entering crunch time this week, and we’ve already seen some of them make a decision. Continue reading

Matt BarkleyWeek 1 of the 2013 NFL Preseason is in the books as we got our first look at the new squads on the field for the upcoming season. Week 2 is set to begin on Thursday, with games stretching from then on into Monday Night.

The format for the second preseason game is similar to that of the first, though the starters might play a little bit longer. The longest that the starters play is in the third preseason game, with most taking the fourth game completely off leading up to the regular season opener. Continue reading

Peyton ManningThe NFL Hall of Fame Game was this past Sunday, but we are just a couple of days away from the official start of Week 1 in the 2013 NFL preseason. Teams will take the field on Thursday and Friday mostly, with one game each day on Saturday and Sunday.

Let’s not expect to see the starters on the field for very long, but we will get to see all 32 teams in action by the end of Sunday.

There is about a month left until the start of the regular season, but NFLSeasonSchedules.com wanted to take a shot at the preseason power rankings in the league, similar to how the top college football teams in the country are ranked prior to their season beginning. Continue reading

How The 2013 NFC East Will Finish

Tony RomoComing into an NFL season the NFC East is always one of the more compelling divisions to talk about. That’s because it is one of the most balanced divisions in football. That continues to be true coming into the 2013 NFL season, with any of the four teams in the NFC East capable of winning it and making the playoffs.

Last season, it was the Washington Redskins who won the division, beating the Dallas Cowboys in the final week of the regular season in what was a de facto division title championship game.

The 2013 season has the makings of all the same excitement and drama, with Philadelphia and the New York Giants hoping to get in on the action this time around.

The Eagles had a very disappointing season which resulted in the firing of head coach Andy Reid. In his pace comes Chip Kelly from Oregon. Kelly is an offensive genius and will try to implement the system that had so much success at Oregon, into the Eagles. The loss of Jeremy Maclin was big for Philadelphia though, as the receiver tore his ACL just days into training camp.

The big question on the table though is how these teams will finish and which one will claim the division title.

If we look at the betting odds, then the Giants are the favorites, though just barely. The Cowboys and Redskins are right behind. It’s actually the Eagles who are the division underdogs, which is a complete 180 from last season.

Of course, expectations don’t really mean much, it’s about what produces on the field. The 2013 Philadelphia Eagles are indicative of that.

NFLSeasonSchedules.com will take a shot at the NFC East Division

How They’ll Finish….

Dallas Cowboys 10-6: The Cowboys will finally put it together and win a division title to reach the postseason by virtue of a tie break. The division will be very close once again.

New York Giants 10-6: The Giants will tie for the division but lose out on the playoff spot with a tiebreak to Dallas. New York will then have to hope to squeeze into the postseason with a wildcard, which we believe they will.

Washington Redskins 9-7: The Redskins take a small step back in 2013, as defenses figure out RGIII. Washington will keep it close to try and make the playoffs, but they will fall just short.

Philadelphia Eagles 7-9: Philadelphia’s first season under Kelly won’t result in a playoff berth, but they will win more games this year than last year. It will be a year of progress.

Key 2013 NFL Training Camp Injuries Occur Just Within The First Week

Jeremy MaclinWe were only days into the start of the 2013 training camps for the NFL before hearing about some season-ending injury news, plus other injury-related news that could have a big effect on teams throughout the year.

It starts with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. The news that Maclin would be lost for the entire 2013 NFL season just days into the Philadelphia Eagles training camp certainly dealt a big blow to the offense. Maclin was no doubt going to be a centerpiece to the infamous Chip Kelly hurry up offensive system. The fourth-year receiver had 69 receptions for 857 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the team in 2012.

Now the question is what to do next?

The Eagles still have DeSean Jackson to target. Jackson is an explosive receiver, albeit less consistent than Maclin. Together, the two were quite the duo. Jackson hauled in 45 receptions for 700 yards and two touchdowns in 2012. Jackson now moves into the primary option with Maclin out. Continue reading
